Ironwood Developing Artists

Since its establishment in 2006 Ironwood has been devoted to providing rich educational experiences for developing artists through programs and events that have been at the forefront of historically informed performance (HIP) education in Australia. Drawing on the outstanding knowledge and experience of its members who have strong connections with leading HIP specialists around the world, and are themselves world leaders in HIP research and creative practice, Ironwood continues to strengthen HIP in Australia. Through its artists in residence programs to its winter schools and its collaborative education work with industry partners, Ironwood has nurtured many fine Australian HIPsters who have gone on to illustrious careers as soloists, chamber and orchestral players, and who are driving HIP in Australia through the formation of new professional ensembles offering niche angles and new ideas in HIP.
