Baroque Duets: Fiona Campbell & David Walker

Mezzo-soprano Fiona Campbell and countertenor David Walker had sung together for Pinchgut Opera in Juditha Triumphans (2007) and L’Ormindo (2009) and decided that they must make a recording of their favourites duets from the baroque.

This recording contains the major climactic scene from Cavalli’s opera L’Ormindo, as well as opera and oratorio duets by Handel and Monteverdi. It also contains two world-premiere recordings: a duet from Agostino’s Steffani’s opera La Liberta Contenta and a Handel cantata for two altos, “Caro autor di mia doglia”. This exciting work has never been recorded before.
